Message: I am looking for information on my wife's grandfather and his family. His name was George W. Ainslie. His father was also George Ainslie and his grandfather was John Ainslie. George W. emigrated to Canada in the 1850's and then, at some point, moved to Portland, Oregon where he started the George Ainslie Co. He specialized in the production of doors, window sashes, etc in that timber rich area. There may still be Ainslie family in the town or Jedburgh or surrounding area. According to the records a River View Cemetery in Portland, George W. Ainslie was born February 28, 1833 in Jedburgh and died in Portland, Oregon on June 28, 1900. He married Sarrissa Elizabeth Hicks and had a son, George Ainslie MD, and a daughter Florence Euphemia Ainslie. Florence married George W. Collins and had two children, Dorothy Ainslie Alyea and my father-in-law George Ainslie Collins (1900-1994).  (Tel: 408-839-9528) (Ref: 560)
