The Borders Abbeys Way is a circular walking route linking the four great ruined Borders Abbeys in Kelso, Jedburgh, Melrose and Dryburgh.

The route is steadily being developed and is being opened in sections as work progresses. The sections from Kelso to Jedburgh, Jedburgh on through Denholm to Hawick, and Hawick to Selkirk are all well established. The sections from Selkirk to Melrose are now completed, and the final phase will continue from Dryburgh and eventually back to Kelso completing the loop.

Once complete, the full route will be approximately 65 miles in length. Currently the following sections are open:

Kelso to Jedburgh - 12 miles | Jedburgh to Hawick - 13 miles | Hawick to Selkirk - 12 miles | Selkirk to Melrose - 10 miles

The route is waymarked throughout, in both directions with an 'AW' symbol denoting 'Abbey Way'. Details from the Jedburgh Visitor Information Centre (01835 863435) (Ref: 337)
